List of Poker Hands

In the game of poker, players construct sets of five playing cards, called the hands. In high games, the highest ranking hand wins while in low games, the lowest ranking hand wins. In the high low games, both high and low ranking hand wins, although different rules are used to rank these high and low hands. Cards in poker are ranked from highest to lowest - A, K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, and 2. Let's go through different kinds of poker hands:

Four of a kind -

Four of A kind

The four of a kind poker hand is also known as quads. This poker hand consists of 4 cards of the same rank and one card of a different rank. The four of a kind poker hand is ranked below the straight flush but above a full house. Each four of a kind is ranked first by the rank of its quadruplet and then by its kicker.

 

Full house -

Full house

A full house, which is also known as a full boat, contains 3 cards of one rank and 2 cards of another rank. It ranks below the four of a kind and above a flush. Each full house is ranked first by its triplet and then by its pair.

 

Flush -

Flush Poker Hand

A flush is a kind of poker hand containing five cards of the same suit but not in sequential rank. The flush ranks below a full house and above a straight. Each flush hand is ranked first by its highest ranking card, then by its second highest card, then by its third highest card, then by its fourth highest card and then, finally by its lowest ranking card.

Straight -

Straight Poker Hand

A straight poker hand contains five cards in a sequence with no card of the same suit. It ranks below a flush and above the three of a kind poker hand. Each straight is ranked by its highest ranking card.
