Sequence Game Strategy

Some may say that there isn’t any strategy in Sequence. But that’s not true! Sure you can’t control what cards you draw. But the trick is making the most of the cards you do have. And with two spaces on the board for each card, you do need to choose your position wisely.

Some Sequence Game Strategies to Use:

Draw Out all Jacks: The one-eyed and two-eyed jack have the ability to block your sequence, so you need to place bogus coins that’s line up in order to confuse your opponent into playing their jack cards to block you.

Stick to the Corners: Since the 4 spots at each corner of the board represent a card, you will need to only make a 4 coin sequence to win. So block up all positions that line up with the corner cards. This will give you an advantage in the long run.

Keep Blocking: If you see more than 3 of your opponent's coins lining up on the board, then it is time to start blocking the potential sequence.

Hoarding Jacks: This technique is frowned upon, but you can hoard all the Jacks you pick up from the deck to use at a later time to either block or make a sequence.

Discard: If you find yourself in a bind, play as many cards as you can in order to make place for better cards. Even if you have a pair of the same cards (ex-2clubs or 2Qspades) you can discard them.

Distraction: Set up 3 or 4 sequences that will put your opponent in a bind. So when they block you, there are still options for you to win.
